COVID-19 update: private and NFP aged care single-site employment update

Single-site employment for private and not-for-profit aged care facilities in the Greater Melbourne region ends on Thursday 8 July 2021.

This means the Federal Government Support for Aged Care Workers in COVID-19 (SACWIC) funding will soon cease. This funding allowed for single-site employment arrangements to be re-introduced for private residential aged care facilities in the Greater Melbourne region. The Federal Government based the decision to cease funding on current risk and the de-escalation criteria set out in the National COVID-19 Aged Care Plan.

Members should begin preparation for a return to working with more than one provider if that is what you were doing before the restrictions were put in place, unless you choose to cease working with multiple employers. If you wish to cease working with multiple employers, you should notify your primary employer and commence discussions about a permanent increase to your hours at your present workplace and then contact your other employer/s as soon as possible to give notice that you will not be returning.

This announcement has no bearing on public aged care facilities which still have single-site employment arrangements, funded by the Victorian Government. ANMF has confirmed this arrangement has been extended until 30 September 2021.
