Natalie Berniard’s mother suggested she consider a career other than nursing ‘because nursing has traditionally been undervalued and underpaid’. She also said encouraged Natalie into nursing, saying that ‘if you want to always be able to work doing something that’s rewarding and that you love, study nursing.’
