Vaccine information for mental health nurses

A new COVID-19 vaccines webinar will focus on providing information for people with mental health conditions, the mental health workforce and carers.

Mental health nurses who attend the ‘COVID-19 vaccines webinar – your questions answered’ will have greater confidence when talking to the people in your care about vaccination.

The 90-minute session on Tuesday 15 June features infectious diseases physician Professor Ben Cowie and panellists will share an in-depth discussion about the COVID-19 vaccination program.

There will also be a question-and-answer session.

Topics will include:

  • the vaccination program and when you can get vaccinated
  • information about AstraZeneca and Pfizer vaccines
  • side effects, what to look out for and what to do
  • information for people on mental health medications and treatment.

The panel will include Julie Borninkhof, PANDA Chief Executive Officer, Dr Grant Blashki, Clinical Lead, BeyondBlue, Dr Tricia Szirom, Clinical Lead, COVID response, Victorian Mental Illness Awareness Council, Anna Love, Chief Mental Health Nurse, Department of Health and Professor Ben Cowie, Senior Medical Advisor COVID-19 Immunisation Program, Department of Health.

The webinar, hosted by the Victorian Department of Health, will be held on Tuesday 15 June, 6.30pm – 7.30pm.
