The Victorian Department of Health has released new resources to prepare for the new Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022 coming into effect on 1 September.
Members are encouraged to download and read:
- Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022 Handbook provides information about key features of the Act.
- Comparison of key provisions: Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022 and the Mental Health Act 2014 [PDF] – an update on implementation activity provides a comparison between the new Act and the previous Mental Health Act 2014 (MHA) and the dates for rollout of materials.
Each Area Mental Health Service should have an Implementation Lead employed, who has been and will continue to coordinate the education packages of the new Act for all mental health staff.
ANMF is aware that in addition to mental health nurses, there are members in many clinical areas who will be impacted by the new Act.
We will continue to send all members any updates we receive.
