October is WorkSafe Victoria’s health and safety month, with many free events for existing or aspiring Health and Safety Reps (HSR), or anyone with an interest in occupational Health and safety.
This year’s ambassadors include 2018 ANMF HSR of the Year Sara Jorgenson and Sally Collier-Clark who also were joint winners of 2019 WorkSafe Award for HSR of the Year.
Both Sara and Sally will be share their HSR experiences working at Bendigo Health at ‘The Value of Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs)’ webinar on Tuesday 25 October.
ANMF Psychological Hazards in Healthcare Conference
Following Health and Safety month, ANMF’s annual Psychological Hazards in Healthcare Conference will be held on Friday 11 November.
Psychological hazards at work have an impact on the mental and/or emotional wellbeing of workers, which are impacted by organisational factors. Outcomes of exposure to psychological hazards include but are not limited to stress, fatigue (physical and emotional), and other psychological and physical symptoms.
The conference explores these important issues from different approaches.
It is aimed at all levels of nursing, midwifery, carers and other health professionals, the Psychological Hazards in Healthcare Conferences attracts six hours CPD required for registration renewal.

Health and Safety Rep training
Are you a new or experienced Health and Safety Rep? ANMF has no cost training options for you which are approved by WorkSafe Victoria.
Newly nominated and elected HSRs and Deputy HSRs can register for the ANMF’s ‘HSR Initial OHS training course’ which is specifically tailored to the healthcare sector. 2022/23 dates:

- 1 – 17 March
- 10 – 26 May
Experienced HSRs and Deputy should attend our ‘HSR Refresher OHS training course’ held over one day relates specifically to health and aged care workplaces. 2022/23 dates:
- 28 October
- 18 November (Traralgon)
- 17 February
- 28 April
- 4 May (Portland)
As a HSR your entitled to time off work with pay and the costs associated with attendance at the course paid by the employer.
