Ramsay agreement voted up: first major private acute employer to match public sector rates

ANMF members have voted up the Ramsay Enterprise Agreement 2026-2030.

The Agreement contains significant improvements, including being the first major private acute employer in Victoria to match and then move ahead of the significant Victorian Public Sector wages increases beyond November 2027, with compounded wage increases ranging between 21-32% for employees over the life of the four-year Agreement.

Other key improvements and changes made as part of the package include the following:

  • Wage increase will back paid to the first full pay period on or after 1 October 2025 and another wage increase is payable from 20 March 2026 – the date of a positive vote of employees.
  • Wages to achieve parity with the public sector by May 2028.
  • Shift allowances increase in line with wage increases (26.77% increase over life of Agreement).
  • All other allowances increase by 3% per annum, with travel allowance at adjusted ATO rates.
  • Improved paid parental leave to 12 weeks paid for the primary carer (previously 10 weeks).  Secondary carer is maintained at two weeks paid leave.
  • Improved access to the use of statutory declarations as evidence for personal leave to five occasions per year (up to three days per occasion).
  • Paid compassionate leave increases from two days to four days per occasion.
  • A new ability to convert extended periods of illness to personal leave when taking long service leave.
  • Improved workload management and staffing consultation provisions.
  • Staffing of operating theatres, PACU, day procedure, endoscopy and catheter labs to align with ACORN standards.
  • Introduction of Lead Apron Allowance commencing at $10 per day where lead is worn for an hour or more consecutively.
  • A new clause which ensures that nursing/midwifery employees will not ordinarily be required to undertake non nursing/midwifery duties.
  • Paid union training leave of five days per delegate in the first year, and one day in each subsequent year, with capacity to bank up to two days if leave not taken, for use in subsequent years.

The Agreement will now proceed to the Fair Work Commission before becoming operational in about six to eight weeks.

This EBA is a great result which now sets the benchmark for the industry in Victoria through to early 2029 and will promote and encourage secure employment.

ANMF would like to acknowledge the work of our members, HSRs and Job Reps who contributed to the development of the log of claims, and in particular the Ramsay Job Rep bargaining team members.
