Join students marching for safe climate future

Nurses, midwives and carers are invited to proudly wear their red t-shirts and support school students by joining them* to march for a safe climate future on Friday 15 March as part of the global School Strike 4 Climate action.

The first Australian rallies in November 2018 drew 30,000 students.

The rallies are inspired by Swedish student Greta Thunberg, who, in August 2018, went on strike to sit outside Swedish parliament (Riksdag) to protest the inaction by politicians on climate change.

‘No one is doing anything; nothing is happening, so I must do what I can’, she told BBC at the time.

Addressing a United Nations conference, she told delegates ‘we have run out of excuses and we are running out of time.’

ANMF (Vic Branch) actively promotes action on climate change and environmental sustainability as it is a public health issue, affecting the health, livelihoods and food and water security of our communities.

Organisers are also seeking volunteer marshals to assist with keeping the march safe.

*Invitation is to members who *aren’t* rostered to work on the 15th.
