Voluntary assisted dying

A  voluntary assisted dying implementation conference will be held 8-10 May to assist with implementing the Voluntary Assisted Dying Act 2017 which commences on 19 June.

This three-day conference will showcase and promote resources developed by the implementation taskforce and provide an opportunity for networking and discussion. It will feature international guest speakers:

  • James Downar, Head of the Division of Palliative Care at the University of Ottawa, and an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine.
  • Dirk Huyer, Chief Coroner for Ontario, and responsible for the Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) oversight in Ontario, Canada.The

The program includes a nurse and allied health specific workshop on Wednesday 8 May 1-5pm session. The full program is available on registration page.

The conference will be held at ANMF Carson Conference Centre, 535 Elizabeth St, Melbourne 3000. Registration is free for all Victorian nurses.
