Undertaking post registration postgraduate study in nursing or midwifery in Victoria?

Eligible registered nurse, enrolled nurse and midwifery ANMF (Vic Branch) members undertaking post-registration/postgraduate (certificate/ diploma) education can apply for a 2020–21 ANMF (Vic Branch) Fee Grant.

In 2020–21 the ANMF (Vic Branch) has increased the total available in the post-registration/post-graduate fee grant pool to $750,000.

You can apply for up to 80 per cent of tuition costs or 40 per cent for those with a Commonwealth supported place.

Members are eligible to apply for fee grants if they have been an ANMF (Vic Branch) member for at least two years and continue to be a member throughout their course.

Preference will be given to members undertaking study in the following specialities and areas of practice:

Graduate certificate

  • perioperative or peri anaesthesia nursing
  • palliative care nursing
  • renal nursing
  • critical care nursing (intensive care unit/emergency/neonatal intensive care unit)
  • addictive behaviours
  • aged care

Graduate diploma

  • postgraduate midwifery
  • mental health nursing
  • maternal and child health

Enrolled nurses

  • Advanced Diploma in Nursing
  • Diploma of Alcohol and other Drugs for enrolled nurses

Applications open 20 January and close 31 March 2021.

Applicants will be advised the week commencing 31 May.

In 2019–20, ANMF (Vic Branch) provided more than $685,600 to support 193 nurse and midwife members in undertaking postgraduate education.

Just over a third of the fee grant funding went to regional members, an increase in regional funding of 6.7 per cent from 2018–19. Just over 20 per cent of members who received fee grants – 41 members – were undertaking postgraduate midwifery education.
