Public sector EBA update 4: Negotiation meetings enter 2024

ANMF elected officials have now completed 12 all-day bargaining sessions with the Victorian Hospitals’ Industrial Association (VHIA), with representation from the Victorian Department of Health, regarding our member log of claims for the EBA to replace the Nurses and Midwives (Victorian Public Sector) (Single Interest Employers) Enterprise Agreement 2020-2024.

VHIA is the legal bargaining representative for your employer.

Further meetings are scheduled through January and February 2024, leading up to the expiry date of the current EBA – 30 April 2024.

While some of our claims have been met with a level of sympathy, this is yet to translate into actual agreement on any of our key claims, particularly those that have a cost attached. Your EBA log of claims is published in full in the January edition of The Handover magazine and can be viewed via anmfvic.asn.au/EBA24claim

While we have concluded negotiations successfully before the EBA expiry date in both 2016 and 2020, it seems less likely that this will occur this time. Instead, we may need to revert to the EBA campaigns that were necessary to meet member claims in each of the EBA campaigns before 2016.

While we will have more to say about that as we get closer to the expiry date of 30 April 2024, in the past this has included requesting a written offer from government, which we will be seeking from the state government during March 2024, so that we can take it to a statewide members meeting. If members do not support that offer, we would seek further negotiations, but also explore all other opportunities to ensure a more favourable offer and outcome.

Further updates will be provided as negotiations progress.

What should members do?

It will be critically important, should we need to take those further steps, and to ensure that all of our public sector members can participate – that you make sure ANMF has your correct home email address and mobile phone number, and that your workplace/s are listed correctly on your ANMF member portal page via members.anmfvic.asn.au

If we have your correct email address but you have not been receiving EBA updates or the monthly On the Record or enews publications, then you may have unsubscribed from our communications. Resubscribe via anmfvic.asn.au/resubscribe
