ANMF recommends you VOTE NO to reject the St Vincent’s Private Hospitals proposed EBA

RATIOS. RETAIN. RECRUIT. ST VINCENT’S PRIVATE HOSPITALS EBA 2024.

CAMPAIGN UPDATE #3

ANMF recommends you VOTE NO to reject the St Vincent’s Private Hospitals proposed EBA

VOTE NO for an opportunity to campaign for the improved workloads, staffing levels, allowances and conditions that you deserve.

The St Vincent’s Private Hospitals’ EBA ballot will open at 9am Thursday 24 October and ANMF is recommending members VOTE NO.

ANMF does not believe St Vincent’s Private Hospitals’ offer is the best it can make. Nor do we agree that bargaining will need to start again if nurses and midwives vote NO. If you do vote no you will send a clear message to your employer that the offer will not recruit and retain nurses at St Vincent’s Private Hospitals and they must do better.

St Vincent’s Private Hospitals’ wages, workloads and conditions will need to stay competitive across all of the state’s public and private health services.

The current St Vincent’s Private Hospitals’ offer compared to the 2024 public sector nurses and midwives agreement, is missing about 40 conditions – including (to name just a few):

  • significant night shift, on-call and change of roster allowances
  • a new change of ward allowance
  • access to a sixth week of leave for part-time nurses and midwives
  • reduced evidence to access personal leave
  • better access to use of stat decs for personal leave
  • increased compassionate leave for all.

And most importantly, St Vincent’s Private has rejected any staffing or workload standards or mechanism in this agreement. However, members are telling us clearly that you want improved nurse/midwife patient workloads and transparent staffing levels. It is not simply about wages. Although wages are important ─ safe staffing and workloads are paramount.

If you want the opportunity to campaign for nurse/midwife patient ratios like your St Vincent’s Private Hospitals colleagues in Sydney have, you need to VOTE NO to this offer.

If you want more of the conditions enjoyed by your public sector colleagues, you need to VOTE NO to this offer.

The ballot will close 4pm Thursday 31 October. Make sure your vote counts and vote NO.
