Members enrolled or planning to enrol in a semester one 2022 postgraduate mental health nursing course are encouraged to apply for the next round of Victorian Government scholarships.
There are 140 scholarships available, worth up to $20,000 each. The scholarships are designed to cover the full-course fees for recipient nurses enrolled in an approved graduate diploma in mental health nursing, or to contribute to the fees for a masters of mental health nursing. They follow the successful 2021 round that saw 124 scholarships awarded.
The scholarships are part of the Andrews Government’s response to the recommendations of the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System – specifically, Recommendation 7, which outlines educational and recruitment strategies to address workforce shortages.
The Victorian Postgraduate Mental Health Nurse Scholarship program aims to grow the capability and capacity of Victoria’s mental health nurse workforce. To be eligible, you must be:
- a registered nurse who holds a current Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia registration
- directly employed (or commencing employment) in a Victorian Area Mental Health Service
- and enrolled to study either a graduate diploma for mental health nursing or masters of mental health nursing in semester one, 2022.
