A community aged care rally in 2018 calling for legislated nurse and carer to resident ratios.
The aged care royal commission will hold a community forum in west Melbourne on Friday 3 May with Commissioners Richard Tracey AM RFD QC and Lynelle Briggs AO.
Members are encouraged to attend to hear more about the work of the royal commission and to have your say about the sector.
The forum details are:
Friday 3 May March
9.30am to 12pm
White Night Receptions
42 Hampstead Road, Maidstone
A limited number of people will be able to make a brief statement at the forum, however you must let them know at the time of registration.
It is important aged care nurses and carers attend this forum. Also consider attending if you have, or have had, a loved one living in residential aged care.
If you are unable to attend, you can still make an online submission to the commission. Submissions can be anonymous or confidential. Members can contact ANMF (Vic Branch) confidentially via our online inquiry form for urgent issues in relation to the commission.
While ANMF supports the royal commission, there is clear evidence that mandated aged care staffing ratios are needed now in private and not-for-profit residential aged care.
The royal commission is required to provide an interim report by 31 October 2019 and a final report by April 2020.
