Nurses and midwives must submit their application for registration renewal by 30 June 2025 but please note nurses and midwives remain registered, and can continue to work, while an application for renewal of registration is assessed.
Not all applications for renewal of registration are decided immediately. A small number of renewal applications need some follow up by AHPRA’s registration team. They may need to:
- follow up declarations made about CPD, criminal history or a health impairment
- check criminal history or identity information with third-party contractors, or
- reconcile payments.
If you appear on the register, you can practise (subject to any conditions) – even if your registration expiry date is in the past.

AHPRA have also extended customer service hours in the lead up to the Monday 30 June deadline:
- Saturday 28 June & Sunday 29 June: 9:00am – 5:00pm AEST
- Monday 30 June & Tuesday 1 July: 8:00am – 8:00pm AEST
