Single site aged care employment update

Single site aged care employment update

Single site employment arrangements

As members would be aware, in late July 2020 the Commonwealth Government commenced funding private residential aged care providers in metropolitan Melbourne and Mitchell Shire to support employees, who were working at more than one residential aged care site, to only work at one facility.

Aged care facilities operated by Victorian Government agencies also commenced this arrangement and recently extended the rules for those sites to February 2021.

The single site rules for private aged care have been extended to 26 October 2020. Prior to that date they will be reviewed, and likely extended. ANMF is pressing the Federal Government to clarify this at the earliest opportunity.

Some private aged care facilities have determined they wish to remain as a single site employer beyond the funding guarantee of 26 October this year. At this time, an extension to the funding has not been granted and therefore any employee who remains as a single site employee in private aged care will no longer receive the cohorting payment which guarantees that they are not financially disadvantaged. If the Federal Government provides an update, we will notify members as soon as we know.

Therefore, ANMF advises members who work across multiple private aged care facilities your employment may return to the locations and hours it was immediately prior to the commencement of single site employment. Alternatively, you may wish to remain permanently at a single site but in doing so will need to resign from other employment by giving your other employer/s the required notice.

If you need more information contact ANMF (Vic Branch) at records@anmfvic.asn.au stating your name and workplace.

ANMF thanks members for their ongoing work and professionalism during these unprecedented times.

Aged care employment survey closes Monday 12 October

ANMF has extended our survey for members who worked at multiple residential aged care facilities prior to the implementation of the single-site policy. The results will ensure ANMF can advocate on behalf of members in the lead-up to COVID-19 normal.

The survey will take about 10 minutes and all responses will be confidential. The survey will close at 9am, Monday 12 October.
