Public sector mental health campaign update #16: ANMF’s mental health wage increase timing discussions close to resolution

ANMF continues to have positive discussions with the Victorian Government and we are close to a resolution about improved timing of public sector mental health wage increases.

This process is taking longer than ANMF would like, and we acknowledge that this is frustrating for our members.

The Department of Health has acknowledged the timings in the endorsed wages offer inadvertently created pay inequities between general public sector nurses and public sector mental health nurses.

ANMF and senior department representatives have been working hard to resolve these inequities.

ANMF will arrange to meet with delegates and members to share any changes to the timings of the wages offer for nurses as soon as ANMF has the final timings outcome.

Drafting of the proposed agreement continues

Consistent with the 28 March ANMF member resolution, ANMF has continued to work on drafting the supported claims clauses in the proposed agreement. Parties met twice last week to review and finalise a number of the common terms in Section 1 of the Agreement and are scheduled to continue drafting this week. This work is to ensure that once all parties have agreed outcomes there are no unnecessary delays to put the proposed agreement to a formal ballot of all public sector mental health employees.

ANMF supported claims

ANMF understands there have been proposals from other parties to remove claims, achieved and endorsed by ANMF members, in any future offers.

It is important to note ANMF does not support the removal of any ANMF claims from the ANMF endorsed offer, including additional equivalent full time (EFT) for graduate support nurses and parent infant unit nursing EFT and the recording of existing nursing staffing levels in community mental health teams.
