ANMF members have undertaken protected industrial action for 28 days to progress bargaining and urge the Victorian Government to provide an acceptable offer of settlement.
ANMF congratulates members for the commitment to your protected action campaign. We continue to meet fortnightly with ANMF delegates, and provided an update this week on bargaining progress.
We are aware some employers have tried to pressure members and teams to modify their protected industrial action. Unfortunately, most nurse managers do not receive training regarding their rights and obligations during disputes. Protected industrial action is legal, and serious legal consequences can follow if a manager is found to have coerced an employee not to take part, or to breach a ban.
Members can report intimidation, harassment and pay docking threats via our online form anmfvic.asn.au/mhreport
Everyone needs to remember that all disputes eventually end and understanding your rights and obligations will ensure working relationships remain intact. All members are encouraged to read our ‘Information for senior nurses’ via anmfvic.asn.au/mhsenior
We encourage members to stay strong and united while continuing to act in the interests of our consumers, clients and mental health profession.
Please continue to take, share and upload photos and videos of members wearing campaign t shirts at work, so we can share on ANMF’s social media channels and in our publications.

ANMF meeting with the Department
ANMF met with Department of Health senior representatives on 14 March to discuss how to progress to an offer of settlement. ANMF has urged the Victorian Government to provide this offer as soon as possible and by the week commencing 24 March. ANMF has also made itself available to meet again with Department of Health representatives on 21 March to progress matters. We will provide any required formal notice to employers in the event we need to progress to stage 2 protected industrial actions in the coming weeks.
Next steps – statewide members’ meeting – Friday 28 March
In anticipation of this offer, ANMF will be holding a statewide members’ meeting on Friday 28 March from 2pm- 3.15pm (via MS Teams). The purpose will be to discuss any received offer, or in the absence of an offer, discuss next steps.
Please ensure your ward or team is represented.
Register for the statewide members’ meeting via anmfvic.asn.au/mhmeeting4.
