As a result of Victorian Hospitals Industrial Association’s (VHIA) application to the Fair Work Commission to seek assistance with outstanding matters being sought by HACSU, the parties to the public mental health bargaining (including VHIA, as the employers’ representative, the Department of Health, ANMF and HACSU) have attended the Fair Work Commission.
The parties have had 3 conferences with the Fair Work Commission on 17 July, 24 July and 5 August with a further conference at this stage scheduled for Thursday 14 August. The parties have also progressed with bargaining and drafting occurring on 22 July and 30 July.
The Fair Work Commission conferences are seeking to resolve the outstanding matters between HACSU and the employers and negotiations are ongoing. ANMF is encouraging resolution of these matters as soon as possible, as well as progression on drafting of matters agreed.
ANMF will continue to hold the monthly mental health delegate meeting with further meetings as required and will update members when further information is available. The next mental health meeting for delegates is Friday 22 August.
Once we have in-principle agreement and drafting is complete, the full draft agreement will go to a formal ballot of all mental health workers, including mental health nurses, employed under the Victorian Mental Health Services Enterprise Agreement. The formal ballot process is organised by the employer.
If the proposed agreement is approved by the majority of employees in each employer, the agreement will go to the Fair Work Commission for approval. The agreement will commence 7 days after the Fair Work Commission approves the agreement.
