Sam Osborn is a registered nurse, out of hours supervisor and midwifery manager at Orbost Regional Health. Sam was on the first of three night shifts on 30 December when a bushfire threatened the town and burned through surrounding land. Later, while other hospital staff evacuated their families from the town, Sam opted to stay to care for acute patients and anyone who may have needed emergency care.
