New guides for requesting reasonable adjustment and flexible work arrangements

New guides for requesting reasonable adjustment and flexible work arrangements

If you have a disability, a caring responsibility, are aged over 55, or  are experiencing domestic violence, you may need to apply for either a reasonable adjustment to your work arrangements or a flexible work arrangement.

These entitlements are covered under the Equal Opportunity Act 2010 (Vic), and the Commonwealth Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Cth) and the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth). Additionally, your award, EBA or workplace policies and procedures may also outline more information beyond your basic entitlements.

To simplify the process, ANMF (Vic Branch) has published A guide to reasonable adjustment requests and A guide to flexible work arrangements requests to help members understand how the above-mentioned legislation relates to your circumstances, and your rights and responsibilities.

Information covered includes tips when writing your request, medical evidence you’ll need, what to do if your application is rejected, and what advice ANMF can provide you. There are also template and model letters to assist you with your application.

The guides are located via the Member Assistance page along with other frequently asked questions. Members are encouraged to bookmark this page and read it first before lodging any Member Assistance query for assistance.
