New antenatal care seminar

New antenatal care seminar

Midwives play a vital role in providing comprehensive primary maternity care to women across the childbearing continuum.

To assist you, ANMF Education Centre and the Royal Women’s Hospital Maternity Services Education Program (MSEP) is offering more midwifery education.

Our new antenatal care program is designed to assist Victorian midwives in delivering evidence-based clinical care and family education at each antenatal visit.

It covers models of care, core practices in pregnancy care, routine maternal health tests, common pregnancy conditions, psychosocial screening, maternal and fetal clinical assessments, lifestyle considerations, consultation and referral where indicated.

Facilitated over two days, this face-to-face program includes in depth presentations, hands-on skill stations, simulation activities with an emphasis on supporting continuity of care, cultural safety, family centred practice and shared decision making. Participants receive an extensive list of tools and resources following the program to compliment learning and improve maternity care.

Content aligns with recommendations from the Australian College of Midwives (ACM) National Midwifery Guidelines for Consultation and Referral (2021), the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) professional standards, codes and scope of practice guidelines and updated Australian Clinical Practice Guidelines: Pregnancy Care (2020).
