New ANMF member holiday accommodation in Melbourne CBD

ANMF House Melbourne - member accommodation

Fully financial ANMF (Vic Branch) members can now book holiday accommodation in Melbourne’s CBD at up to 50 per cent off the market rate.

The new ANMF House offers luxury-style accommodation in the Queen Victoria Market precinct for short breaks exclusively for members.

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews officially opened the ANMF House Melbourne accommodation on 25 May noting the union’s ability to successfully advocate for ANMF members while also investing in additional member benefits.

ANMF (Vic Branch) President Maree Burgess described the completion of the development as a ‘milestone’ in the union’s history.

The ANMF purchased the site at 240-248 Victoria Street in 2017. Architects BayleyWard partnered with Revival, a sustainable building and construction company, to redevelop the property’s existing Central Club Hotel and build seven-storeys of short-term member accommodation above.

The original building is at least 150 years old existing at least since Victorian times when it was the Hayes’ Cab Bureau for horse-drawn cabs.

ANMF (Vic Branch) Secretary Lisa Fitzpatrick said the development had been deeply respectful of the site’s history and heritage. The original building artifacts, including the timber, was re-used with ‘love and skill’ by Revival.

The member accommodation is built to Passivhaus Standard which achieves a rigorous level of energy efficiency.

Member benefit accommodation program

ANMF House Melbourne is the third property in our exclusive member benefit accommodation program which is part of Branch Council’s longer-term plan.

The Ocean Grove Chalet is a contemporary 15-room/unit complex 500 metres from the beach and a five-minute walk from the shopping and restaurant strip.

Our Viewhill Holiday Units, located in Bright’s tree-lined Delany Avenue, are quaint, older-style one- and two-bedroom units set in an acre of stunning gardens. The popular residence and some units are currently undergoing a staged refurbishment.

Booking blocks

Bookings at ANMF House Melbourne, Ocean Grove Chalet and Viewhill Holiday Units Bright must be made in a:

  • four-night block: check-in Monday, check-out Friday or
  • three-night block: check-in Friday, check-out Monday.

Members can book a maximum of two blocks at a time, multiple times a year. ANMF has suspended the annual booking limit. Read our frequently asked questions before booking. Please note ANMF House is the only location that offers one and two night stays for members attending professional development.

The union invested in holiday accommodation in response to a member survey in 2021. Discounted quality accommodation is also a popular member benefit offered by ANMF’s Western Australia and South Australia branches and other unions.

We hope when the time is right, this expanded membership benefit can help members rest, relax and rejuvenate.
