If you forgot or weren’t able to renew your Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) registration by the extended deadline of 5 June, there is still a late period during which you can apply to renew.
As long as the NMBA receives your application by 30 June you will remain registered and able to practise. You will, however, be charged a late payment fee of $30, on top of your general registration renewal fee of $193.
There may also be a delay between payment being processed and updated details appearing on the register. You can check your registration status at the online register of practitioners.
If you still have not paid your registration renewal by Wednesday 1 July 2026, your registration will lapse, your name will be removed from the NMBA national register and you will not be able to work as a nurse or midwife.
If you seek to resume practice in the future, you will be required to lodge a completely new application for registration and comply with the relevant registration standards and associated costs and criteria. Currently, a new application for general or provisional registration fee is set at $332.
We strongly encourage you to seek advice from ANMF Member Assistance if you are considering letting you registration lapse, or considering moving to non-practising registration.
