
Members are invited to sign up to the ANMF (Vic Branch) Education Centre’s new emergency birth training course, created and presented by the Royal Women’s Hospital Maternity Services Education Program. The course will cover the knowledge and skills to care for a woman through spontaneous labour and birth no matter the setting; as well as manage the common emergencies that can occur.
Course overview
8 hours CPD
This course will develop your knowledge and skills on the normal mechanisms of labour and birth, as well as how to care for a birthing person and newborn. You will also learn to identify and manage the most common and significant maternity emergencies.
Topics include:
- Normal labour and birth
- Postpartum haemorrhage
- Shoulder dystocia
- Breech birth
- Neonatal resuscitation
The program includes hands-on skills stations to consolidate all these skills in a simulated maternity environment. This course will suit both registered or enrolled nurses who might be called on to assist with a birth or a registered midwife looking to refresh skills.
