Job Rep seminars and training in 2026

ANMF (Vic Branch) offers free training developed specifically for Job Reps (delegates).

If you’re new to the Job Rep role – or you’ve been a rep for a while but haven’t done training in a few years – these sessions are a great way to learn more about the union, your rights and powers, and network with other reps.

For those working in the public sector, both enterprise agreements provide for up to five days paid union delegate training leave per calendar year or up to ten days over two consecutive years.

Those in the private sector are now covered by industrial relations legislative changes long fought for by unions and introduced by the Albanese Government in 2023. These changes state that eligible workplace delegates* all now have rights and entitlements that include access to paid training leave. Check your enterprise agreement and if you need assistance in requesting paid training leave please contact jrt@anmfvic.asn.au.

*applies in all workplaces except those with under 15 employees.

Annual Job Rep seminars

Job Reps and HSRs are encouraged to come along to hear the latest ANMF news from your elected officials – Branch Secretary Maddy Harradence, and/or Assistant Secretaries Nicole Allan or Sam Casey – at these informative, informal two-hour seminars (the optional third hour allocated is for those who want to stick around for refreshments and networking/catching up with other reps and ANMF staff).

These sessions will include updates on ANMF plans for the year ahead and beyond, progress on EBA negotiations, information about what’s happening in your area, and other current Branch work. You will have plenty of opportunities to ask questions.

Job Rep foundations

Foundations aims to provide Job Reps with the essential tools and knowledge to perform their role. New Job Reps are encouraged to do their initial Foundations training as soon as possible after being elected. This program is complemented by the Job Rep Foundations online module, which will take approximately two hours to complete and can be accessed via our Education Portal (education.anmfvic.asn.au).

Keeping it organised

This two-day program develops skills and strategies in progressing and resolving collective issues at your workplace.

The Melbourne metro program is delivered across two standalone days (Program 1 and Program 2). We strongly encourage Job Reps to register for both programs to gain maximum benefit from the program.

Regional courses are delivered across two consecutive days.

Bullying, harassment and discrimination

Designed to give Job Reps the basic knowledge and available referral options to effectively support and guide ANMF members with concerns of this nature. We identify relevant legislation to provide a broad legal context when dealing with these matters and outline the ANMF processes and preliminary steps a Job Rep or HSR can take.

Reading your agreement

This three-hour session is designed to give a broad understanding of the structure, content and legal status of EBAs, as well as some basic principles for reading and applying EBA provisions.

Reading your agreement + Bullying, harassment and discrimination

This full-day (9am–4pm), combined program combines our two popular short courses and will equip Job Reps/HSRs with a comprehensive understanding of both bullying, harassment and discrimination issues, and with a solid foundation in reading and understanding enterprise bargaining agreements, covering their structure, content, and legal status.
