Healthscope EBA update 5 – ANMF meets Healthscope in the Fair Work Commission

On Wednesday 29 October, ANMF (Vic Branch) participated in a conference in the Fair Work Commission before Commissioner Clarke. This conference was convened following the ANMF’s application, which we lodged on 14 October.

Despite a number of ANMF requests to meet to progress negotiations over the last fortnight, Healthscope did not agree to do so.

NEW PROPOSALS DISCUSSED

Both the ANMF and Healthscope proposals were discussed at this conference.

ANMF Job Representatives in the negotiating team participated in the discussions, alongside Industrial Officers Megan Reeve and James Lauchland. We hope to provide a more substantive update on these discussions soon.

PROTECTED INDUSTRIAL ACTION TO CONTINUE

ANMF members are to be congratulated on the resounding industrial action across all sites – 11 in Melbourne and one in Geelong.

Members can continue all notified actions: including wearing your ANMF t-shirt, refusing redeployment, refusing overtime and all the awareness-raising activities such as discussions with patients and families, social media engagement and contacting traditional forms of media such as talk-back radio and letters to the editor.

DATA BANS WILL COMMENCE TOMORROW – FRIDAY, 31 OCTOBER AT 7AM

We encourage members to discuss with their colleagues which data bans will be undertaken in your ward/unit. The most effective types of action will differ depending on the sort of work you normally do. As a rule of thumb, admin and data work that directly relates to patient care will continue to be done.

Examples of acceptable data bans include outcome measures, invoicing and statistical data.

Item 6 on the protected industrial action ballot order list states: A ban on administrative tasks including, but not limited to the: collection and/or entry of any data (that is not required by law to be entered into the patient record or related directly to patient or staff safety) and a refusal to record, collect or complete data required by the employer;

  • noting or documenting start and finish times of consultations or procedures;
  • the completing of any paperwork or electronic forms other than that directly related to the documenting of patient care;
  • the scanning, documenting or entry of any item related to billing of clients.
