The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia is considering a registration standard for registered nurses prescribing.
The endorsement would enable RNs to prescribe within their scope of practice under the supervision of an authorised autonomous prescriber, such as a medical practitioner or nurse practitioner.
The University of Queensland is conducting a survey which will help inform the implementation of nurse prescribing nationwide.
