The courageous nurses at Epworth Medical Imaging (EMI) in Geelong and Richmond are continuing their protected industrial action for a lead apron allowance and decent wage increases of 4.5 per cent per annum.
EMI nurses stopped work at Geelong on Thursday 5 June, in Richmond on 6 June and again at both sites on 25 June 2025.
In April, 90 per cent of union members voted in support of stop work protected industrial action following an offer from Sonic Healthcare (owner of EMI) of 4 per cent per annum wage increase and no lead apron allowance – an allowance that many of their peers already get paid.
‘Epworth Medical Imaging nurses deserve what other private sector nurses are entitled to,’ said ANMF (Vic Branch) Secretary Maddy Harradence.
‘Epworth Medical Imaging nurses are taking protected industrial action as a last resort because Epworth Medical Imaging needs to progress negotiations and meet their very modest claims.’
The Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation (Victorian Branch) has been negotiating a new enterprise agreement on behalf of nurses at Epworth Medical Imaging since late 2024 and is proud of the solidarity and commitment shown by our EMI members. ANMF will continue to support them as they campaign for a fair deal.
