The Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation (Victorian Branch) is dismayed by media reports that some Victorians are refusing to allow doctors of Asian appearance treat their children due to fears they are carrying coronavirus.
ANMF (Victorian Branch) supports doctors, nurses, midwives, personal care workers and all front-line health professionals of Asian appearance and we respect their critical work in our health and aged care services.
The coronavirus does not discriminate on the basis of your country of birth or your appearance.
We urge patients and their families not to let fear and anxiety become reasons for discrimination against the very people who are there to provide treatment and medical care.
