ANMF members are urged to support our national aged care campaign by emailing the Prime Minister Scott Morrison and Minister for Aged Care Richard Colbeck to demand they fix the aged care crisis.
Despite twenty years of inquiries and reports, including a recent interim report from the Royal Commission into Aged Care Safety and Quality, the Morrison Government refuses to act on the serious concerns about safe and quality care, and understaffing issues in aged care.
The Prime Minister Scott Morrison has only promised a response to the issues of waiting lists for home care packages, over-reliance on chemical restraint and finding alternatives for younger people living in aged care by the end of the year.
Federal Aged Care Minister Richard Colbeck said he was ‘shocked’ by the report despite 18 previous reports and reviews into the aged care system since 1997 and thousands of official complaints about aged care providers. However, he told the Senate Estimates committee that he wasn’t closely following the royal commission as ‘I have other things to do’.
Please send your email and encourage family and friends to do so.
