Aged care royal commission moves to Melbourne

The Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety has published details of the scope and purpose for its upcoming Melbourne hearings.

The commission has approached organisations and individuals from whom it seeks evidence to appear as a witness at the public hearings.

Applications to appear are open to anyone who has a direct and substantial interest.

There will be three hearings with a specific focus:

  1. Younger people in residential aged care (9-11 and 13 September), applications to appear must be received by Friday 30 August.
  2. Diversity in aged care (7-9 and 11 October), applications to appear must be received by Friday 27 September.
  3. Workforce (14-18 October), applications to appear must be received by Friday 4 October.

As the largest union representing aged care nurses and carers, ANMF (Vic Branch) will be appearing and representing our members in these forums.

Considering making an application to appear?

We encourage our aged care members to share their experiences. If you are considering an application to appear at one of the hearings contact ANMF Professional Officer Mark Staaf for support and advice, before the application deadline, via records@anmfvic.asn.au

Further information on the Melbourne hearings can be found on the royal commission website.
